RIP Junior

Junior passed away at the age of 2 years and 11 months, when comet ISON approached perihelion early this morning (well, the two events might be unrelated).

The birthday of Junior was assessed to be in January 2011 by the veterinarians of SPCA, after he had been rescued by their inspectors while roaming the streets.  I can't image how a little vulnerable hamster could roam in the busy streets of Hong Kong, but it was the information provided by the website.

When I started looking for a new hamster in early 2011, I had wanted to have a girl, and I would have preferred a white one.  Yet Junior was the only one staying at the animal centre at that time, and I needed a hamster to comfort me in this cruel world so desperately that I couldn't wait any longer, so he came to my home in April.

He had another name at the centre, but before we even met I had already decided that my next hamster would be called Junior when watching the Indiana Jones movie.

Thank you, Junior, for all the great times you gave me since then.
